Michael T. Mcphearson

Veterans For Peace Executive Director

Michael T. McPhearson is the Executive Director of Veterans For Peace and a U.S. Army veteran who served as a field artillery officer during the Gulf War. He is a prominent advocate for peace and justice, co-founding the Don’t Shoot Coalition in Ferguson, Missouri, in response to the 2014 police killing of Michael Brown Jr. McPhearson has also led the South Seattle Emerald, a hyperlocal news publication dedicated to amplifying the voices and stories of BIPOC and working-class communities in the Seattle area. He currently serves on the boards of the ACLU of Washington, the American Friends Service Committee Nobel Peace Prize Nominating Task Group, and Valley and Mountain United Methodist Church.
