David Collins

At 18 years old David served for 3 years as a rural policeman in Zimbabwe, and then was commissioned into Royal Marines in 1967, serving in Singapore, Oman, and South Atlantic. Resigned from RM in 1977 and retrained as Directional Drilling Supervisor based in Aberdeen, later creating a specialist company working internationally with a major base in Vietnam.  Left oil industry in 1994.  Director of European Union Energy technology transfer project Scotland/Vietnam.  2002 MSc in Renewable Energy, specializing in Biogas from organic wastes.  For 12 years led a team engaged in promoting expansion of biogas plants in UK and setting up government renewable energy incentives – electricity, renewable gas injection, bio-fertilizer scheme etc.  Director European Biogas Association. Now using life experience in conflict, oil & gas, colonial situations and renewables to promote peace full time.  Committee of Friends of Le Monde Diplomatique, Veterans for Peace and Committee of the Movement for the Abolition of War.  Researching causes of the Falkland Islands/Malvinas war of 1982.  Activism at COPs 24, 25, and 26.
